Jacob joins the Trust through our facilities operative recruitment programme

Prior to joining the Trust Jacob completed a one year transition to work programme known as DFN Project Search, which is for young adults with a learning disability or autism spectrum condition, or both. As part of the programme Jacob completed placements at Pinderfields Hospital with the patient porter and facilities teams and in May the facilities team at Kendray Hospital. These placements have helped Jacob secure his new role and he starts his role at Kendray Hospital in the portering team.

Katie Whittam, facilities support manager at the Trust commented: ‘‘A huge congratulations to Jacob for securing his new role – I am looking forward to working with Jacob. I am also looking to further expand our work with DFN Project Search. We are hopeful that we will have two more interns starting early next year who will be working in the housekeeping and catering teams. This area is close to my heart as my son has autism and learning disabilities, and I want to spread awareness and acceptance.’’

Jacob was so pleased to be offered his role with the Trust - Jacob wrote a thank you card to Katie and Graham Moss, senior transport and portering manager. In the card Jacob said: ''Thank you ever so much for offering me a job - it has been a great pleasure and I hope to be working here for decades to come.''
